Introducing Joe Belzer, VP of Mobilization

Thursday, January 28, 2010 - rflory
Recently Joe Belzer became the Vice President of Mobilization for NMSI. Below, Joe shares how God led him to this ministry and his vision for advancing God’s kingdom.

My family and I recently moved to Fort Myers to work in the Center for Global Outreach (CGO). My wife, Jennie, and I have 11 children (expecting our 12th soon). We love watching the Lord bring life to our home and those around us through our children.

Having served in campus ministry for 24 years, last July Jennie and I went on a quest to see where the Lord might lead us next.  We sent many college alumni to serve with NMSI, and so over the years we became friends of the mission. When NMSI asked us to consider moving here to help recruit and train the next wave of missionaries, the Lord confirmed it. It excites us that we can use all our past experiences to aid the mission of NMSI to make disciples globally.

My key responsibility will be to give oversight and aid in the Mobilization Department, which includes short-term projects, internships, and apprenticeships. Most people have their first contact with overseas missions through a short-term project or an internship, which we want to be a life-changing experience. We desire that an eternal connection would form between the individual and the people they go to serve. Sometimes the Lord will lead people back to a life of full-time cross-cultural service. Other times He uses the experience to shape their future involvement with others on that field. Either way, it is exciting.”

Over the following weeks we will highlight ways for you to get involved in a short-term project or internship. Check back soon!
